DreamFighters Exclusive with Alistair Overeem
March 31, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
DreamFighters.com once again was able to get a hold of Alistair Overeem as he arrived back home in Holland, and we were able to ask him some very interesting questions, as were able to bring up some of the “DreamFighters.com Fan Questions” that we offered from our site.
Again, we would like to take a moment to thank Bas Boon, Alistair Overeem, and Golden Glory for answering our call’s so fast, as this will be our 5th interview with Alistair.
DreamFighters.com: First off, great fight against Remy. You went toe to toe with the best K-1 striker in the world. - How did the fight go for you? Did you follow your game plan? Was Remy as hard as you thought?
Alistair Overeem: Well we knew he was going to stand there in his double defence if I would keep the pressure. I think our game plan worked, the pressure was good and I could land some good knees and uppercuts and leg kicks.
DreamFighters.com: If you had to fight him again, what would you do different?
Alistair Overeem: I would throw some more punching combinations, I was to focussed on my game plan, but I actually knocked him down in round two with a right left right combo.
DreamFighters.com: Now looking forward, what is next for Alistair Overeem?
Alistair Overeem: I will going to focuss on MMA again and maybe defend my strikeforce belt soon in the United States.
DreamFighters.com: Will you be fighting more in DREAM, or will you be fighting in the USA next?
Alistair Overeem: Dream and the USA
DreamFighters.com: Have you decided on a promotion to fight with in the USA? (UFC, Affliction) ? Anymore meetings with Dana White and Golden Glory?
Alistair Overeem: My manager is bussy with negotiations, things go very well at this moment.
DreamFighters.com: Mirko Crocop said he wants to fight you now in a K-1 match up. Would you accept that fight, and what are your thoughts on it?
Alistair Overeem: He should fight me under dream rules and finish what we started instead of wanting me to fight in his cellar and now again under different rules.
DreamFighters.com: So you are saying you are open to fighting him again?
Alistair Overeem: Yes, anytime!
DreamFighters.com: (Fan Question) You and Remy seemed to have fun at the K-1 Presser. Do you always try to plan and play head games with the person you are fighting?
Alistair Overeem: Not really, but it has been sucha hot item that I thought it was funny to do something with this. Fuji Tv even broadcast the oscar thing, so I think they like it.
DreamFighters.com: (Fan Question) What was it liking growing up and living in Holland? Did you get into many fights as a kid growing up?
Alistair Overeem: Yes I was a restless child, lots of energy, my brother took me to a gym when I was 16.
DreamFighters.com: (Fan Question) Many people and critics say you have been taking performance enhancing drugs. What do you have to say about that and to those people?
Alistair Overeem: I have been tested everytime everywere I fight, I have gained weight because I always have been a heavyweight. I was about 103 kg when loosing 10kg to fight at 93 kg/205 lbs. After my last fight in the states I gained about 4 kg per year. But its still easy for me to loose 10kg or gain quickly.
DreamFighters.com: (Fan Question) Alistair, we all want to see you fight Fedor. Do you think this will happen in 2009 or 2010?
Alistair Overeem: I would love to fight him on NYe 2009 in Japan or affliction, its fine by me.
DreamFighters.com: Alistair, thank you once again for speaking to us. Is there anyone you would like to thank?
Alistair Overeem: I would like to thank all my fans and my trainingspartners at Golden Glory, my trainers and managers. peace!
We would like to encourage everyone to check out Alistair’s team website: Golden Glory

DreamFighters Exclusive with Bas Rutten
March 12, 2009 by admin · 2 Comments
DreamFighters.com: What have you been up to lately besides your busy job with insideMMA?
Bas Rutten: Shooting little short movies with a company from Kevin James right now as we speak, really funny, so its great. An infomercial is coming out with a punching and kicking product that I designed, its called B.A.S (the Body Action System), it will hit the TV in about two weeks now and for the rest I am running around, I did a video clip for MTV for the Band “New found Glory” and that thing came out yesterday I believe, so am doing good!
DreamFighters.com: Are you still training and do you expect any return to the cage or ring?
Bas Rutten: No, I have no cartlidge anymore on my knee caps, nothing at all. They can fix ANYTHING in a knee, but NOT the knee caps. So I can only train stand up, sitting on my knees hurts. I have to wait until they get better with the stem cell research.
DreamFighters.com: Bas, you did a great job with coverage at the Affliction “Day Of Reckoning” Event. How did you feel Affliction’s show went?
Bas Rutten: I thought it was a good event, anything with Fedor in it is good.
DreamFighters.com: What was your impression of the Fedor vs Arlovski fight, and what did you think of the K.O.?
Bas Rutten: I think that Arlovski was doing a great job until he got “cocky” and forgot about his game plan and when you give Fedor ONE little mistake, he WILL take it, he’s just so freaking calm and has such a good reflexes, its awesome to see a guy like that.
DreamFighters.com: Who do you think should be next to take on Fedor for the WAMMA title?
Bas Rutten: Josh Barnett or Cheik Kongo
DreamFighters.com: What are your thoughts of the WAMMA belt and WAMMA system? We are good friends with WAMMA. Pat Miletich and Mike say Hi.
Bas Rutten: I think it’s a great system, its only going to be difficult when the biggest organization in the world, the UFC, doesn’t work with them. Because then you STILL don’t have a unified world champion. Now, if they keep on going and the rest of the world also gets bigger in MMA, then of course the UFC will have to challenge the WAMMA belt holders because the people want to know, and when the people want to know, Dana White knows that there is money to be made and he’s a good business man. But that’s still going to take while.
DreamFighters.com: Bas, what are your thoughts on Brock Lesnar? Do you think he is the real deal? Also, do you think Fedor can take him out, as they(UFC and Red Devil) have been trying to set this match up?
Bas Rutten: Brock is a very strong guy and every time we see him he’s better, so he’s learning and learning fast. Can he beat Fedor? Not right now, but maybe in the future? Of course he has a chance to beat Fedor and not only a 10% chance, substantially higher, trust me, but Fedor is just too good right now and look at his record, he NEVER lost. (TK doesn’t count, it was a cut and be beat him in a re-match)
DreamFighters.com: You are good friends with Mirko Filipovic. Do you think Mirko still holds a threat in the heavy weight division?
Bas Rutten: I haven’t talked to Mirko for a long time, we would only see each other at events and would call each other once a while, so we are friends but not close friends. I think he should drop to light heavy, he can be huge there.
DreamFighters.com: In your early Pride Days you seemed to of Interviewed and hung out with Mirko a lot. Can you tell us(the fans) of any funny or memorable moments with Mirko? What was he like out side the ring?
Bas Rutten: He was always funny with me and he wanted only to be interviewed by me. I set up Mauro Ranallo, who’s terrified of Mirko, Mirko was great with this, check this out and you get a kick out of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4oJsSnmGkw
DreamFighters.com: Also, were there any memorable moments with Wanderlei Silva?, as he always had a colorful personality.
Bas Rutten: Nope, we are just friendly but I never hang out with him
DreamFighters.com: Bas, you have appeared on a few episodes of “The King Of Queens”. What was it like filming on that show with Kevin James?
Bas Rutten: Kevin is great, really good guy. I met him when I first came in the States, he was unknown then and lived on a one bedroom apartment that he shared, haha, you should see his house now! But he stayed the same exact person. Like I said, I am working with him right now again, he’s not behind the camera, but he’s the producer, writer and also director together with the director of KOQ and Mallcop, great guys!
DreamFighters.com: Who was the most interesting person you ever interviewed and why?
Bas Rutten: My mom and dad for a show that I am doing, it was strange to hear how they thought about me, haha
DreamFighters.com: Bas our readers have a question for you. You are in the bar, talking to some ladies, and someone decides to start some trouble with “El Guapo”. What do you do?
Bas Rutten: Take him out in ways that depend on his aggressiveness. If they hit one of the ladies, they will end up in the hospital 100%, if they are just drunk, I choke them out and let the bouncers take him outside, no need to refurnish a drunk man’s face, he’s drunk for crying out loud, doesn’t know what he’s doing. If they hit me, well, it has to be a sucker punch because once we square of I don’t get hit that often on the street, but with a sucker punch, I probably take him out with low kicks. On the street people don’t know how to fight so you can experiment, low kicks are great because you probably have to give only one (step in deep so you connect with the shinbone, they won’t flex their muscles so it will go through them like a knife through butter) and he will drop. The good thing about them is that the guy will remember you every time he sits down, because it will hurt bad for at least 5 days.
Bas Rutten: Check out BasRutten.com and as El Guapo always says: Godspeed……… and Party on!

DreamFighters.com Do you know who you will be fighting next? and is there anyone in particular you would like to fight?

Gegard Mousasi: I probably will fight in the next afflictionshow

Gegard Mousasi: Well I am 97 kilo’s naturally so obviously I can’t cut down to middleweight any more.
DreamFighters.com Out of the HeavyWeights fighting right now, who are some you would like a chance to fight against? (UFC, or Affliction fighters)
Gegard Mousasi: I don’r really care.
DreamFighters.com You have mentioned before you train sometimes with Fedor. Can you tell us about that? What it is like to train with Fedor?
Gegard Mousasi: It’s great to train with someone with so much experience. I can learn a lot from him.
DreamFighters.com You were at Affliction “Day Of Reckoning” correct? What did you think of the main event ? (Fedor vs Arlovski) ?
Gegard Mousasi: It was great, Fedor looked sharp.
DreamFighters.com Would you like to fight Fedor one day?
Gegard Mousasi: If the money was ok I would probably. I would love the challenge but I am sure I won’t beat him haha and now we are both M-1 teammembers.
DreamFighters.com What are your thoughts of the WAMMA belt and WAMMA system?
Gegard Mousasi: I like the WAMMA the system.
DreamFighters.com Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?

DreamFighters Exclusive with Randy Couture
February 26, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
DreamFighters.com was able to catch up with Randy Couture to ask him a few questions. We would like to Thank Randy for always having time for us, and we encourage everyone to check out his NEW site:
DreamFighters.com: Randy, great speaking with you again. We know you are a BUSY man, and appreciate the time!
Randy Couture: It’s my pleasure.
DreamFighters.com: What have you been up to? How is the elbow?
Randy Couture: I’ve just been catching up on things at home and at the gym and gearing up for my upcoming movie shoot. The elbow is great. I had is scoped to remove some bone fragments that had been nagging at me for years. It’s recovering well and feels much better already.
DreamFighters.com: Any word on when you will be fighting next? We have been hearing word that you could possibly be fighting at UFC 99 or 100? Any truth to that?
Randy Couture: I’m hoping to get back in there this summer, but nothing is set in stone yet.
DreamFighters.com: Any word on whom you could be fighting? It’s been floating around that it could be Mirko Crocop. Has anyone talked to you about the possible match-up, or is it just rumor?.
Randy Couture: I’ve heard that name come up, but there haven’t been any serious talks. I don’t officially have an offer for that fight.
DreamFighters.com: If you were to fight Mirko, how would you feel with that fight. Would you try to stand with him?
Randy Couture: I think that would be a fun matchup. I definitely don’t think it would be in my best interest to get into a kickboxing match with Mirko. If that fight were to happen, I’d want to impose my strengths on him in the clinch and from the top position like I always try to do.
DreamFighters.com: Out of all the fighters in rotation right now, who do you want to fight the most?
Randy Couture: The fight I’d like most right now is a rematch with Brock for the obvious reason that the loss is still fresh in my mind. I know I can fight better than I did against him the first time and I’d like the chance to prove that.
DreamFighters.com: Any ties to Affliction?, or will you be staying with the UFC until you retire?
Randy Couture: I’ll be staying with the UFC, I have no ties with Affliction.
DreamFighters.com: It has been relased that Fedor is going to be in talks with the UFC to fight Brock. Do you have any desire to possibly fight Fedor if he comes to the UFC?
Randy Couture: Absolutely. That’s been sort of my dream match-up for a number of years now so if the opportunity arose I’d be all over it.
DreamFighters.com: Vitor Belfort trains alot with Extreme Couture. Do you think he is ready to challenge for the #1 Middleweight title?
Randy Couture: I think he has looked great in his last two performances. He really seems to click with the training staff here at Xtreme Couture, particularly with Shawn Tompkins. I think as long as he stays focused and keeps pushing hard in training, he matches up well against any middleweight in the world.
DreamFighters.com: Randy, is there anyone you would like to thank?
Randy Couture: I’d like to thank the whole crew at Xtreme Couture. We have a great team and a lot of exciting things coming up this year. Check out our new website, XtremeCoutureLifestyle.com, where you can get custom strength and conditioning programs and access nutrition and wellness resources online.
DreamFighters.com: Thanks again for speaking with me Randy. We wish you the best of luck!
Randy Couture: Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
