Alexander Emelianenko: Update
March 6, 2009 by admin
DreamFighters.com is providing everyone with a much needed update on Alexander Emelianenko from his statement of leaving Red Devil, to a very recent interview with Alexander Emelianenko.
Alex’s comments on leaving Red Devil:
Hello! I think you already heard about the changes in my career. If you haven’t, I’ll explain in a few words: with the agreement from both sides my contract with Red Devil is revoked. This means that I became a free agent and don’t have any commitments for anybody.
I will say right away that there was no conflict between us. I asked the club president Vadim Filkenstein to remove all contractual obligations from me connecting me to “Red Devil”, as well as their obligations for me. Vadim was not against this. But we have also agreed, that as a promoter he will still offer me to participate in some events and fights, and I will review those offers. I asked Vadim to put me down for the next Affliction event, which will happen in the Summer, since I have the contract with Americans for three fights. Currently there is no concrete answer, since it is not yet known when exactly this event will take place, and who will be participating. But nothing is interfering with me fighting on such a big show in America.
But the most important result of all these changes - is that I will not depend on anybody anymore. I want to move independently in a few areas, such as advertising, relationships with sponsors, PR. In recent years I have formed a solid team, where I have a main manager, PR-managers, people who handle advertising and work with sponsors; so on this day I’m not in the need of services of some organization, or some club. I will fight with whomever I want and wherever I want.
Also I can say that in the past 24 hours, since it was officially announced that the contract was revoked, I have received a large amount of offers to fight, as well as sponsorship deals. There were also offers to fight for other teams. Right now I cannot say which organizations, since the negotiations have just begun, but I’m sure that now I will fight more often. I have made an important decision, and it should become a step forward for me.
I can no longer train in the gym of the “Red Devil” club, but that’s not a problem. Any gym in Petersburg will accept me with open arms. And the most important thing is that my trainer - Yuri Razumov is staying with me.
My next fight, as planned, will be on March 29 in Rostov-na-Donu against our famous heavyweight Ibragim Magomedov at the international event “ProFC - Russia vs Europe”
That’s it for now. I will publish the answers to your questions next week. Bye.
Recent Interview with Alexander with Russian Boxing site: Allboxing.ru
Famous Russian fighter - the 27 year old Aleksander Emelianenko is preparing for his upcoming fight on March 29 in Rostov-na-Donu against Ibragim Magomedov. He spoke in an interview with Allboxing.ru regarding how his training is going, and shared his plans for the future.
“My training is going great” - said Aleksander - “Currently I spend my main time with technical preparation, boxing and wrestling. In general, I’m trying to raise my physical form to the new level and I’m feeling very good. And to say even more, right now I have a situation where my trainer Yuri Razumov refuses to let me train more intensively. He says it himself that he never had this before, so that the trainer would have to stop somebody from training, because usually it happens the other way around, when the trainer needs to motivate and make the athlete do the needed work. But now he’s telling me that I need to rest more, because you can overtrain.
After the the fight with Lee Sang Soo, many specialists noticed that the Russian fighter looked a bit heavy in this fight. Aleksander commented it this way: “I came to the fight in good shape and felt excellent. I came out and did what I had to do, I knocked out my opponent. Perhaps from the side it seemed like I was a bit heavy, but I will repeat; I felt wonderful. Perhaps people expected me to come out as a rocket, run and move around alot, but in that fight I had a completely different goal set - to cut off the corners, firmly stand on my feet and throw punches. In the beginning of the bout Lee Sang Soo tried to run more and to keep a safe distance for himself. But as soon as he stopped, he missed a punch, and the fight was stopped soon thereafter. Despite all this we should not forget that currently Lee Sang Soo is number one in South Korean team in MMA.”
There was information last year that Aleksander Emelianenko would fight in a rematch with the famous American fighter Josh Barnett at the first M-1/Affliction show, but that bout did not happen. “Yes, the fight with Josh Barnett was planned, but at the end the organizers decided to change everything and to put me against another fighter” - explained the Russian fighter. - “But then the California State Athletic Commission did not give me a permission for the fight, for various reasons. Regarding the second Affliction show, I couldn’t participate because of an injury. We thought about this decision with my team for a long time and eventually decided not to risk it and to heal the injury properly. Right now I am asking to put me down for the next Affliction/M-1 show, which will happen this summer. I think that in the near future I will be able to discuss this with the organizers”
“But in general, I would of course would like to have a fight against Barnett, because he is considered one of the best fighters in the world and stands very high in the ratings” - said Aleksander - “And I did not want to fight Buentello or someone else like that. I actually offered this fight to Barnett, when I fought Bobbish in Canada, and Barnett was in his corner. I offered the fight to him then, but he refused, telling me that if someone offers him to fight me, he would ask for a very large sum of money. And back then the situation was different; he was not getting paid much. Right now it’s all different, and Barnett is making very good money in Affliction, so I think that if they try to offer him this fight, he will not refuse. I said it many times already that I want to fight with the best and can repeat it again. I’m ready for big fights and for big victories, so that by the time my brother decides to leave the sport and move on, I can deservingly take his place”

Hmm Interesting articles and both a good read. Nothing yet again mentioned, denied or confirmed about the alleged Hep. B/C problem. Until other wise Im gonna have to go on his word that it infact wasnt Medical at all an something entirelly different. At least I hope its not, Aleks is a great talent that I’d hate to see wasted for naught. Hopefully it all works out and he gets cleared an we can maybe see him in Affliction or at least UFC.
Thanks for the review!
