DreamFighters Exclusive with Jeff Monson

April 1, 2009 by admin

DreamFighters.com was able to get a hold of Jeff Monson today, and were able to ask him a bunch of questions about Politics, Fighting, Fedor, and more.

DreamFighters would like to take a moment to thank Jeff Monson for getting back to us for this interview, and taking time out of his day to speak to us.

DreamFighters.com: Jeff, thanks for taking the time to speak to me (Adam) at DreamFighters.com

Jeff Monson: no problem, thanks for having me.

DreamFighters.com: Congratulations on your win at “March Madness” - How did that
fight go for you? Was Nelson a hard fighter to control?

Jeff Monson: roy is a tough fighter. i never really felt in control during the match. he is good on the mat as well as standing. he pretty much controlled the ground which was a suprise for me.

DreamFighters.com: How did it feel to be on a card with a legend like Roy Jones Jr?

Jeff Monson: it was an honor being on the same card as roy jones jr. i followed his career from the beginning and to share the same ring as him was pretty humbling.

DreamFighters.com: I hear you will be fighting on a superfight at Vengeance FC? What can you
tell us about your fight?

Jeff Monson: i am fighting chase gormley. he’s a young guy, undefeated as well. i think he’s stepping up a bit over his head in this fight but he has nothing to lose so i am taking it serious.

DreamFighters.com: We had to ask. You were in a little trouble a while back with
Vandalism/Anarchism, Most notably on the state Capitol. Can you briefly tell us
your resoning behind this? Is this motivated by the current war that is going
on?

Jeff Monson: the message on the capital building said,”no war”, “end poverty”, along with a peace and anarchy sign. the port of olympia is used to transfer soldiers and equipment to iraq. the lawmakers need to know that an overwhelming marjority of americans do not approve of this continued war. so when they went to work the next day they got to see first hand opposition to their policies of sending young men and woman to kill and be killed for oil conglomerates.

DreamFighters.com: What are your thoughts on the WAMMA belt and their efforts promote cross
promotion in MMA?

Jeff Monson: its great for mma. it unifies all the fighting organizations and fighters and is obviously a big honor to be ranked. it helps give further legitimacy to our sport.

DreamFighters.com: Hope you don’t mind if we take a moment to talk Politics?

Jeff Monson: of course not. go ahead.

DreamFighters.com: We are very interested in your political veiws, and you have made them quite
public over the years. First, what got you started in Anarchism?

Jeff Monson: i grew up middle class and never did without. however, i always felt there was something wrong, something missing. i learned about anarchism while in college and when i got into mma and was able to travel extensively and saw the poverty and unequal distribution of resources around the world i became dedicated to anarchy, the desire for absolute freedom and equality.

DreamFighters.com: Has your expression of your political views “upset” alot of MMA
fans, from what you can see? (on forums and what not)

Jeff Monson: many people on the forums say “kill that commie” or express their dislike for my political beliefs. most of the comments are completely uneducated and narrow-minded. i quit reading these threads long ago. there are other views though and when someone wants to challenge my points and bring something new to the table i enjoy the conversation.

DreamFighters.com: Are you a supporter/listener of Alex Jones? Do you follow his radio show ?

Jeff Monson: i like a lot of what he says although i honestly can’t say i regularly listen to his show.

DreamFighters.com: What is your take on the New World Order or Totalitarian World Government?

Jeff Monson: i need to be convinced of something with facts to believe it. i am not a conspiracy theorist. individual countries are becoming obsolete. it is capitalism that runs that world. multi-national corporations with the help of the governments dictate law and make policies.

DreamFighters.com: What are your impressions and thoughts of Barack Obama and his policies?

Jeff Monson: i think obama has a good heart and is well meaning. i like some of the things he is doing to try and re-shape the view the world has of america. that being said, he is working for a capitalist institution and will always make sure those demands are met first.

DreamFighters.com: Enough politics…Will you be taking some time off from training, or will
you be right back in your camp training for your next fight against Sergei Kharitonov at DREAM.8?

Jeff Monson: Yea right back to training for april 5th against sergei kharitonov in DREAM.8 then back to training for the vengeance fight.

DreamFighters.com: So, no rest for a while I assume?

Jeff Monson: Nope none at all.(Laughs)

DreamFighters.com: What can you tell me about the Vengeance FC promotion?

Jeff Monson: vengeance fc is a great promotion. the reason is that they are doing a great job marketing the sport of mma. they are pulling out all the stops to make the vengeance fight card a great show. ego, picking your opponent, etc. have no place on their menu.

DreamFighters.com: Vengeance FC has an old-school feel with the tournament style. It sounds
exciting for fans. What are your thoughts?

Jeff Monson: this is back to the basics of mma. when the ufc first started this is how it was. the fans get to see several matchups and styles and truely the toughest guy will come out on top.

DreamFighters.com: Is there anyone in particular you would like to fight in 2009?

Jeff Monson: i have been trying to fight fedor now for awhile. from what i’ve heard he is a nice guy. he is also the world number #1. so it would be a great opportunity.

DreamFighters.com: Jeff, we want to thank you for taking the time to speak to us today. We
wish you the best of luck!

Jeff Monson: i appreciate it. thanks!

Special thanks goes out to: vengeancefc.com

And of course, special thanks goes out to Jeff: Jeff Monson
