December 30, 2008 by admin

DreamFighters.com has able to get a one on one exclusive interview with Lyoto Machida. DreamFighters contributer Benjamin Zeidler conducted the interview.

DreamFighters.com: How is training going? How are you training different for the fight with Thiago Silva ?

Lyoto Machida: My traning is going very well, even though it has been a long time since Thiago and I were suppose to fight I am very focused and ready to fight Thiago. I am not training any different for Thiago. I have a strategy that is pretty consistent for all of my fights and I am sticking with that strategy.

DreamFighters.com: If you beat Thiago, are you hoping for a title shot, and would you be ok with going through someone else before a title shot?

Lyoto Machida: When I beat Thiago I feel I deserve a title shot. I have defeated many of the best guys like: Tito Oritz, Rich Franklin, Stephan Bonnar, B.J. Penn, Thierry Sokoudjou.

DreamFighters.com: Do you consider Anderson Silva as your greatest threat, or are there some other LightHeavy weights that are greater threats?

Lyoto Machida: I don’t think of Anderson Silva as a threat, he is not a threat he is my friend. As far as the LightHeavey weight there are a lot of strong guys in the division; however, I do not feel threatened by any of them. I believe in my training and I am ready to fight against who ever the UFC wants me to fight.

DreamFighters.com: We know you are friends with Mr. Wanderlei Silva - Do you expect him to win against Quinton Jackson, and would you fight Wanderlei Silva if you had to? (assuming he wins, and the UFC matched you too for a fight)

Lyoto Machida: Wanderlei is a really tough guy and I believe he will win against Rampage. If the UFC wants me to fight Wanderlei, then I have no choice and we will have to fight.

DreamFighters.com: Lyoto, your style is very fluid, and hard to catch. Have you always fought this way, and is this something you train for?

Lyoto Machida: This is the Shotokan way and it come natrally to me. I have always fought this way. It is a style that I believe in and is a part of who I am.

DreamFighters.com: Many fans would love to know how Lyoto Machida trains - Can you tell us a little on how you train?

Lyoto Machida: I train 6 days a week. 2 sessions a day, one conditioning the other is some form of martial arts. 2 days out of the week I do MMA sparing.

DreamFighters.com: Can you give us your predictions for the Nogueira vs Frank Mir fight?

Lyoto Machida: Nogueira is going to win for sure!

DreamFighters.com: What is your overall goal in the UFC?

Lyoto Machida: To become champion and remain the champion for years.

Machida has done nothing to deserve a title shot. He has beaten an over the hill Tito Ortiz and BJ penn fighting 50lbs above his weight class. Thiago Silva is going to smash Machidas face if he can catch Machida while he runs around the ring too scared to fight. Rampage deserves to fight Rashad to try to get his title back first

I cant stand watching this guy fight . He doesnt really fight he just does enough to win there is no honour or pride or even heart in the way he fights. He believes he is a warrior but I for one dont agree.
I would hate to see this guy hold a title in the ufc .

Machida is just playing the system of scoring in the ufc , if the ufc introduced a rule were fighters had to engage there apponnents or lose points , similar to the rule in japan , Lyoto would lose every fight .

I would love to see Machida actually fight in the ufc instead of playing the points game ,

And I would also like to agree with every word of the previous post as Jackson deserves the shot he has faught hard and earned it the hard way and he has left no doubt in any fans mind that he deserves it
