DreamFighters.com exclusive interview with Jeff Shamrock
Posted on: Thu 03-Jul-2008

DreamFighters.com is the first MMA website to have a one on one interview with Jeff Shamrock. The 18-year-old member of Ken Shamrock's Lion’s Den Elite Fight Team will make his debut for the organization on its next event, which has yet to be announced.

DreamFighters.com: Jeff, thanks for taking the time to speak to me at
DreamFighters.com.
Jeff Shamrock: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk to such a well known organization! I appreciate the support from dreamfighters.com.

DreamFighters.com: Congratulations on signing with StrikeForce! Are you excited to be apartof the StrikeForce team?

Jeff Shamrock: Yes absolutely! I am very excited about signing with Strikeforce! Now I have a chance to show everyone my skills as a fighter. It is my goal to make it to the top one day, along side all of the other big names in MMA.

DreamFighters.com: Who are you mainly training with right now in the Lions Den Elite team?
Jeff Shamrock: Everyone at the Lion's Den is great! I am training with some of the best. Right now I'm training with Leland Gridley, Buddy Roberts, and Cheyenne Pietri. The training is very intense. Ken is also giving me a lot of guidance. He has really taken me under his wing. I am very thankful for the opportunities that I have right now.

DreamFighters.com: Do you or have you trained with Ken Much? Has he been helpful, as im sure he is a great resource.

Jeff Shamrock: Yes, Ken has been very helpful! If it wasn't for him, I would probably still be in Iowa fighting amateur bouts and getting nowhere. Moving up to Nevada was the best decision that I ever made. Ken has been a big influence in my life. He is like the father that I never had.

DreamFighters.com: Do you know when your first fight with StrikeForce will be and who with?

Jeff Shamrock: No, I should know soon. They are working on it right now and it looks like my first fight with Strikeforce may be sometime in July. My opponent is yet-to-be determined.

DreamFighters.com: You are fairly new to the mainstream MMA scene, so can you let us in on a little about your self? Like your background in MMA and such?

Jeff Shamrock: Ever since I was a little kid, I used to watch Ken fight. I would get jealous and wonder why that wasn't me. When I was 16 and living in Iowa, I fought two fights and won both in under 1 minute. Ken called me one day and asked if I wanted to fight for him, so I dropped everything and moved to Reno. I fought at one of Ken's shows in August and won. The fight was with Kyle Davey and I submitted him in 1:06. I finished out high school in Reno and now I'm getting my chance to show everyone what I'm made of.

DreamFighters.com: Is there anyone in particular you would like to face?

Jeff Shamrock: Ha-ha, of course there is! Ever since Ken fought Tito Ortiz I’ve absolutely hated the guy for his lack of respect and cockiness. There is nothing worse than a guy who’s cocky and can back it up. I want to avenge my uncle, like any one in my position would love to do! I just have to put on a few pounds ha-ha.

DreamFighters.com: Who is your favorite current MMA fighter?

Jeff Shamrock: I would have to say Roy Nelson! He is such a technical fighter for a heavyweight and he always puts on a great show. I love watching him!

DreamFighters.com: Is there anything you want to say to anyone, or your current and future fans?

Jeff Shamrock: I look forward to fighting for Strikeforce and fighting some great fights for the fans.

DreamFighters.com: Jeff, we at DreamFighters.com wish you the best of luck. Thanks for
doing this interview with us.

Jeff Shamrock: Thank you!
