Affliction's twice-delayed, heavily rumored second show, stil believed to be called "Day of Reckoning", is expected to be the first event in the new partnership between Affliction Entertainment and boxing's Golden Boy Productions. However, it appears that those expecting to see boxing and MMA on the same event will have to wait. Affliction's Vice President Tom Atencio has confirmed that the card, which is now tentatively set for January 24th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, will feature only MMA bouts. A Miguel Cotto/Antonio Margarito bout had been rumored as a boxing main event for the first hybrid show, but it appears as if those plans are on hold for the time being. Atencio stated that the joing boxing/MMA card was something that Affliction and Golden Boy are "absolutely" looking to do in the future, but that it was something that would not be able to be worked out by January to allow for it in the next event. |
